What is a Celebrant?
A Life-Cycle Celebrant is a professional ceremony officiant who believes in the power of ritual and ceremony to transform, heal, and honor individuals and communities. Celebrants collaborate with their clients to create and perform personalized ceremonies that reflect the beliefs, personality and journey of the client, not the Celebrant. A Celebrant does not represent any particular faith tradition.
Celebrants go through rigorous training through the Celebrant Foundation & Institute based in New Jersey. There are hundreds of Celebrants across the world, representing many different cultural, geographical and faith traditions.
Celebrants officiate at all types of ceremonies and rituals across the life cycle, including adoption and new mother ceremonies, marriages, vow renewals, trauma healing ceremonies and funerals. Celebrants also create ceremonies to enrich daily life and community connection for families, neighbors, businesses and whole communities. Rituals are as varied as the Celebrants themselves, but the common thread of all Celebrants is to use ceremony to mark the moments and milestones in the lives of individuals, families, communities and organizations.

Working with a Wedding Celebrant
Working with a Certified Wedding Celebrant is a different experience from the beginning. I offer a 30 minute free consultation so that we can learn more about each other, your wishes for your ceremony and see if we’re a good fit. From there, I will send you a detailed questionnaire to learn about your love story from which I will craft a customized ceremony honoring your unique love story. You will get unlimited access to me with full editing control of the ceremony, so that it is exactly what you want for your important day. I will coordinate with all ceremony vendors (DJ, photographer, videographer, venue contact) to ensure that all vendors know the flow of the ceremony to best capture those sacred moments. I will lead a rehearsal practice the day before the ceremony (if requested) and I will arrive 30 minutes prior to your ceremony to ensure set-up, sound system checks and all props needed for rituals are ready to go. After the ceremony, I will deliver the signed marriage license to the state for filing and I will provide you with a keepsake version of your ceremony, so that you can revisit it in years to come. Many couples find that a yearly ritual of revisiting their ceremony on their anniversary is a sacred reminder of the vows they made to each other on their special day.
All in all, I will spend over 20 hours customizing and coordinating your unique ceremony. For the full experience, it is recommended to work together for 1-3 months before your wedding date. My goal is to honor your unique and sacred love story, to witness and help give voice to your journey as individuals, as a couple, and as uniting families moving into the next phase of your life. This is a huge transition in your life. It is important to honor that with the highest quality officiant who honors your love story.
